Card time !

I went a bit overboard this week as I needed a special card for someone. I've done this origami type a few  times.Normally I use it as an envelope but i made it as a fold out card this time. ( I do like a bit of folding!) Here it is closed with a band round it

                                                and here it is open
It was all made using the  Kanban Language of  Flowers 12 x 12 paper pad.One sheet  of 12 x 12 folded and another piece cut into lots of triangles. If you have a double sided sheet - no need to cut triangles out !
Then I made another 8x8 with the Language of flowers toppers -901113 - Bonds of Affection and the little topper is Seeds of Love 901608.
Hope you're enjoying this lovely sun today - it feels like Spring again !

A Place in Time - February

Following on from this post I sat down the other night with my Graphic 45 massive stack
one or two papers that I bought for the monthly page I plan to do.I still haven't made the front page but so far am on track for once a month.
I love the way these papers have one for the base and then a separate paper with loads of designs  and pictures in all different sizes to choose from and use on your layout.

You know when you get a photo that is not brilliant quality but you really like it ? well this is one of those. I really like it but always feel it's too fuzzy to use.

I don't think it's THAT bad - could be better but it captures a moment! There's a little hidden journalling tag tucked under the photo at the top and I stamped some little hearts to use across the top corner.
I'm posting once in a while over at the ATDML blog too now -you can buy these papers over in the shop here.. and they've just taken delivery of some really cute little  wooden embellishments too.
I'm a bit behind on blog visiting this week but am going to catch up with you all later this evening. Right ,it's back to work for me now - catch up with you all later.

This week's cards

I did a bit of stamping this week with one of the lovely Kanban stamps from the Language of Flowers - this one is the Sweet Pea. I used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to colour the flower and shade the edges
The next one was a baby card for a nephew and his wife who have just had a little girl-background is using paper from the Birth and Celebration paper pad and the toppers are 901542- Baby Pink Baby Blue.
The last one is using the new Walk With Me kit - Countryside Scenes as the topper from an embellishment sheet - 900172. I stamped the butterflies and sentiment with Purple Archival ink from the Kanban  Butterfly Stamps 6011
Thanks for looking !

Whose Slanket ?

You may remember this post ....The slanket I bought because they are always stealing my brown one and my purple one- thinking no one would dare use it as it's GIRLY colours ........

Boy with a headache/hangover
There's only one thing  for it now - I'm buying an ARSENAL one- they will NOT go near it :-)

This week's cards

I had a bit of a 'pink ' week this week.Someone ordered a Granddaughter card and wanted 'cute',someone else wanted a 'non fussy' engagement card and someone wanted a 'flowery' card for their mum- so I was off to my craft room and came up with these

Engagement card made with the Love and Marriage A4 paper pad and the Sparkling Engagement toppers - 901521
                                                         Granddaughter card ......
I used the Sugar Buttons Princess Posies topper for this one and embossed the wording.

Next is the flowery one - using Latte Roses background card - 901026 and Pink Roses topper - 901027

Lastly an anniversary card using Well Wishes paper pad and Anniversary Wishes toppers - 901534
Yes, I definitely had a pink week !

Misting and Masking

I've had some My Mind's Eye papers sitting on the side of my desk for quite a while.I bought them a while ago from A Trip Down Memory Lane and as I've had a bit of a tidy up lately I decided to use them.
Masking and stencilling is something I've dabbled in once in a while. As I'd recently got some new little masks I thought I'd 'go for it' and try them out.
Here's the result..
I had a 'knife and fork' that I nearly threw out during the clear up but glad I didn't!
The flower is stamped onto and cut out of some 7Gypsies tissue paper that you can get here. I used a harlequin mask and dotty one and a random swirl that I found.
I'm always a bit wary of sprays onto layouts as they always seem to make the card warp but I flattened it after I'd done it so it wasn't too bad. I might do a bit more of this - I quite enjoyed messing about - as I always do.
Hope you're all having a nice Saturday - we've got snow forecast tomorrow - have you got any your way ? - here we go again!

Picking my precious

This month I'm joining in with Sian's Pick Your Precious storytelling Sunday, here's mine..

I have quite a few precious little things that are really special to me. Some are things that are still tear jerking to pick up and look at,but the one thing that is something that warms my heart and makes me happy would be one of the many items I'd try to keep if we had to leave our house in a hurry is a layout of a memory. It's framed and on my lounge wall together with two other family ones..it's a memory of a very special day.The day was a very happy special one and involved going to London with my Dad and attending a very special 'Royal' Garden Party. I didn't know at the time that he wouldn't be here a few months after - so it makes it all the more precious.
It was one of the projects at a retreat I went to and the minute I started it I knew the photo I'd picked would be perfect and I loved it - so the layout is also part of the special love I have in me for playing with paper too. Sometimes everything comes together so well, the colours, the textures, the photo, the way you enjoyed the project when you made it - and most of all,the memory and happiness it evokes. Made all the more special as it's exactly a year ago yesterday that he left us. Scrapbooking really is a precious hobby - I think its lovely to put something of yourself into keeping those photos for future generations.Plain albums are nice but actually putting your time and energy into a layout is even nicer I think.
How about heading over to Sian's blog now to see what others are sharing.
